Mother and Daughter

One of my coworkers has been collecting brooches ever since she saw my bouquet from my wedding. It has been a thing her and her mom do on the weekends spending time together. She is also a very busy lady and hasnt had time to put them together yet. So she asked me to put them together for her. My coworkers is the colorful one with the silver and her moms is the gold one.

This is going to be a mothers day present for her dear mom! I am very glad I could be a part of it and make it an extra special day with a one of a kind gift for her mom!

Lots of changes for me in blog land,  I have started to expand into a business setting, getting all of the correct paperwork filed, you can see I now have my own domain name, facebook page, and my etsy shop has blown up lately! Maybe one day I could quit my every day job and move into something fantastic!

Tried for a new look on the Pictures.

What do you think about these pictures over the one's in the grass? I noticed that a lot of the treasuries over on Etsy have white background typically, and really pop!

My hopes are that with the white background they may grab more treasuries in Etsy, and there for in return get some more traffic.

So what do you think better or worst then the grass ones?

Black and White Bouquet

Just wanted to share some more pictures, and another bouquet I did.

Its a black and white themed, with hints of gold and silver.

Etsy has kept me pretty busy, tons of corespondence with people about custom bouquets. I have gotten a few custom orders which seems like they are the best. I also have a couple of orders that are just people wanting them in their house!

I have a few projects planned for this weekened, which includes making tea towel pillows out of some tea towels I got from Hobby Lobby! I have a few painting projects going on, and I have some scrabooking things, as well as school! YIKES!

Ikea drab, to DIY Fab

Hello Everyone! Hopefully everything is settling down for a bit, we have been constantly going, it seems like I always have a test to take, a place to take the kid, or just something crazy going on around the house.

This Saturday we were blessed with the help of some friends, we managed to put up a massive play set that was given to us by a lovely couple in another town. It now takes up a large corner in my backyard.

We also got these friends to help us dig up the front yard, because unfortunately the front water pipe in our yard needs completely replaced. So we got these friends to trench up the front yard, about 20 feet of yard about 2 feet deep. Yet again we are blessed with great friends.

A coupled weeks ago i picked up this Ikea coffee table, got a deal on it for $25. This table had absolutely no contrast, and was just kind of "bleh".

One of the good things about ikea though is that some of their products are made of real wood, this table was scratched all over the top, and left little to draw the eye.

While this isn't the best picture i sanded down the top and took some further distressing to it. I waxed it with Annies dark wax, and painted the bottom of it with Paris Grey. Just the perfect amount of contrast for me! Then that is my Wuslu steal of the American Tea company bamboo rug.

I hope everyone had a great Easter, I know we enjoyed time with family and friends. Started watching a new show, Game of Thrones, anyone else seen it? If you are a fan of mid-evil and crazy stories its definitely one to consider!

Texas Tornados

My Husband and I went after work to Arlington to help a friend of ours that lives in one of the harder hit neighborhoods of the tornados that came through on Tuesday. They say this one was a 2.

We helped a family with 5 kids’ move all of their belongings out of their crumbling home and into a store unit yesterday. They lived on the street that was right in the path of the tornado. I felt very humbled that this family let us help them. While we were there the channel 4 news crew showed up to interview the father of the family. When we asked if he would help us he told us “I can’t I’m injured” as he showed us his broken pinky finger. Needless to say after a few choice words he put down the microphone and the camera man put down the camera and they helped load the truck.

I just thought I would share some pictures with you guys. We are blessed we didn’t get any damage up north, but I feel for these people. If you can help out I am sure they would appreciate it. In fact bowie high school’s football team was there with us.

This is the house we helped with.

And their backyard, which was the path of the tornado

No Happy Hunting, but be blessed, and bless others as much as you can!

Brooch Bouquets

I have always loved old jewelry, but I can never remember to put any jewelry on since I get up so early in the mornings. I decided for my wedding I wanted a brooch bouquet, and collected different brooches, including some from family members and came up with this beauty.

Well I had tons of leftover brooches, and well I love the look of these, so here are a couple that I have been working on over the past few months.

This one is not finished yet, i still need to wrap it will ribbon. I have found out that it is much fuller once you wrap it. There is no real theme to this one other than colors.

This one was kind of themed, with a black, white, gold and silver. There are some small accents of color thrown in there, but its not very much, and not too bold.

I am considering listing these on Etsy, but at the same time I want to stick them in random places around my home to bring color and inspiration. What do you think? To sell or not to sell?
