Lucketts Green goes French!

 There is a very awesome lady I have met in my travels of furniture! We have helped her out, and she has helped me out! The neighborly thing to do! Here in my very small town stuff like being rude gets around fast.

She needed help moving some furniture from a house in another town, so in return of my manly man helping her I was given this French Provincial Desk. It had some issues with the legs, which may husband fixed with our almighty Kreg pocket kit :)

It has been sitting in my house for a few weeks now, I didn't know what I should do with it, or the color I would go with. I had a few boxes of Miss Mustard Seeds paint that I didn't want to open after a bad experience the first time.

Alas, I decided to give her paint another try, and here is my version of Lucketts green! This is what Lucketts would look like if it went to France I feel :)

I just love the color on this desk, and the perfect color of the naturally oxidized handles were a plus for me! I hope you enjoyed the desk as much as I do! Now the struggle on whether or not I am going to keep it! 

Christmas Ornament Highlights

Hello friends! Hopefully everyone is getting right into the season with the Christmas holidays coming right around the corner. One of my favorite things about Christmas are my old ornaments. My mom has been collecting these ornaments for me for a while, I also have been searching for them high and low! Do you know how hard it is to find shiny brite ornaments from the 50's and 60's that didn't get broken?

 

One of my favorite things about these ornaments is that most of them are hand painted. They are not mass produced like most of the ornaments that you can buy in the stores! To me something that is handcrafted is worth so much more then anything I can buy at walmart! The fact that these ornaments are each unique and one of a kind also helps me with the love! 

The ornament on the left is probably the one i treasure the most on my tree! The reason is look at the unique shape of it! I only have one of these things, and to me it looks like a top. I have searched for other ones in this shape and have never been able to find them!

Preview of some Chalk Paint Projects!

 Hello Everyone! I just wanted to share with you some of the projects that I have been working on lately, some of these still have more things that need to be taken care of on them, some are finished. These are all going to go into the booth at Pickers Point hopefully this weekend! Then I have a load of furniture to bring down from the Sherman area this weekend as well! 

 

Here is a before picture of a chest of drawers I have had for quite some time. Kind of plain and boring.

 This is a "group" shot of some of the projects I have been working on! As you can tell I have been a busy bee! I am in love with Annies Antibes Green, and Emperors Silk!

 I am considering putting a chalk board in each of these frames what do you think?

This is just a small gold vase I found sitting on top of my project chairs.

Need Some Help finding a Tea Set

Ever since I was a little girl I used to love this Tea Set that was kept in my grandmother house. This set is from after the Atom Bombs went off in Japan... 

You see they sent my grandfather over there to aid in the cleanup right after the bombing he was only 17 years old, and already married to my grandmother. 

He brought this set over from Japan for my Great Grandmother, his Mother, it was then passed down to my Grandmother. I treasure this set with all of my heart, but unfortunately it will not get passed down to me, instead it will be going to one of my Aunts and probably to her children instead.

This set is very dear to me because my grandfather passed away when I was 12. When my older sister and I were children we lived with my grandmother and grandfather while my Dad served in the military. I have many found memories of my grandfather, and this tea set that was always kept locked away in the China cabinet. If you happen to find this tea set anywhere I would love to see pictures of it, or know where it is listed online. Since I will never be handed down this set personally, I would like to have one for myself, so I can one day tell my great grandchildren about my pap and everything he sacrificed for our country. 

From what i know about this set that is considered Dragon Ware, but was made pre WWII. I have seen other colors but non like this one.

DIY Headboard Inspiration

Well, I thought I had it figured out, I thought that I was going to put this perfectly Chippy old window in my bedroom over my bed, I thought it had the right amount of grunge and grease, IT WAS PERFECT! Then I decided i didn't like the grunge so i cleaned it, then i didn't like the fact that it was creme and not white.... THEN my husband sat on the bed and bumped his head and down the window came.... so yet again there is a bare spot over my bed. 

This leads me on the search today for some headboard inspiration!

Although I love the look of the old wood, I do not think my Husband would appreciate the wooden background. 

This is another interesting headboard made with a pallet. 

How about an old door instead? 

This is the way that I think that I will be going, but instead of white, i would like a black leather looking headboard instead. 

I do have some more windows stashed, and they may end up above the headboard on the bed just gotta get them all figured out! I will post more on the headboard designs and ideas once it starts to come together!

On the Hunt for Vintage China

This is a dream china set for me, I just love the colors of them, and I can not wait to get my cabinets painted to stick them in there! The Salem Biscayne China was made in 1958. 

 I love this pattern, simply because its feminine without overdoing it. The colors on the plate is absolutely beautiful.

This is the mark on the bottom of the China. I am looking for several pieces, as I would like a full china set for my new open cabinets. Any leads would be appreciated.

Auction Finds

So we discovered a few things last night while going through the auction finds. One of the first things that we discovered was about an entertainment center that we bought. Barrett went to move it out of the truck and noticed that it was Henredon. I had no clue who that was, so without further ado I let my Mom know. Soon she called me and told me to stick it in the garage. Apparently we scored pretty big on this set, it’s worth way more then we paid for it, and it would have been a shame had we of taken paint to it.

Another thing that we picked up at the auction was this Sears stereo console. This console has a radio, an 8 track player, and a record player inside of it. Surprisingly all of the different things function just fine. Last night waiting for my parents to come over and help move this furniture around Barrett and I plugged it in and listened to some old Merle Haggard and Elvis Presley.

We picked up several other things at this auction, one of the pieces we got was a box of Military newspapers from the 1940s. These were very interesting to look at especially during war times. 

  Here are a couple of different pictures from a couple of the news papers. The first is declaring that Hitler is dead and that Germany has officially drawn out of the war. Its a very interesting article. The second is a ad for Oldsmobile who apparently made the tanks.

I am still waiting on more pictures from the photographer on the wedding. Eventually I will post that, also this weekend I will work on a tutorial for the Brooch Bouquet much like the one that I made for my own wedding. Just another day looking for inspiration and dreaming of all the things I get to do when I get home!
